HELP US HELP KIDS!

(and have fun while doing it!)

For over 15 years Danberry has hosted an event to provide emergency financial assistance to families of children with serious or life-threatening illnesses.  In conjunction with The Toledo Children’s Hospital Foundation, kids throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan have been helped.  This year we are adding the Autism Collaborative and the YMCA/JCC Childhood Obesity initiatives to the causes we support.

Our centerpiece event is a charity dinner auction that will be held at The Hilton Garden Inn at Levis Commons, Perrysburg, on Thursday, 10/13, beginning at 6:00pm.  There are MANY ways you can help the cause!

  • Please join us!  Our $75 event ticket is the best bargain in town for an event of this quality!
  • We are in need of good items (or services) for the evening’s silent and live auctions. ($25 minimum value please). Donors will be recognized on this website and in the event’s program.
  • Buy a $25 raffle ticket for a chance to win a new Mercedes C-Series luxury automobile for a year, courtesy of Coppus Motors in Tiffin!
  • Buy Danberry Treasure Chest wines (4 varieties) at a special charity display in any of The Andersons stores.  (10% discount by the case).
  • Join us as an event sponsor!  About a dozen have already done so at levels from $500 to $5,000 and will be recognized at the event, in the program, and throughout the year in Danberry marketing pieces.  Details at: http://www.danberry.com/danberry_charities/

We hope you will lend a hand to a child in need of help.

Danberry posts images depicting the seasons in our region on this home page, and challenged our associates to snap away throughout the summer.  The winning photos will soon be featured on this site and remain until fall is upon us (hopefully not too soon!).

As he did in a previous contest, Briarfield’s Mike Guess captured some of our best summer images.  An unbiased panel judged unnamed entries, and Mike took the first and second place prizes.  Caitlin King from our Oregon branch office took third place, and Honorable Mention went to both Chris Hall and Jo Lyman.

Let us know what you would like to see photos of!

OK, that may seem like an odd headline, but we mean it.  The good people at The Andersons have a contest under way during the month of December which could benefit the families of many kids with serious illnesses at Toledo Children’s Hospital

The centerpiece of Danberry’s charitable efforts is an emergency assistance fund at the hospital called The Danberry Treasure Chest.  This is an invaluable lifeline for some families with children struggling with chronic illnesses while they struggle with financial issues.  That’s where you can help us by selecting our private label wine for your holiday entertaining as well as gifts!

Please print this flyer  and stock up for the holidays.  4 varieties are available as well as case discounts, and they make great gifts as you visit friends and relatives. They will be found on a special display in the wine department of each Andersons store, or ask for it by name.  The Andersons also makes a contribution to the fund for the equivalent of every bottle purchased.

What could be an easier way to support the neediest of kids?  Thanks in advance for your help, and Cheers!

Charity Auction

2010 Danberry Treasure Chest Auction

…kind of. Money is still coming in and being counted, but we can confidently say that we raised over $40,000 at this year’s Danberry Treasure Chest Dinner Auction for Charity.

The event was held October 14 at the Hilton Garden Inn at Levis Commons and was emceed by Jerry Anderson of Channel 11. Both a silent auction and a live auction were held. Jack Amlin served as the auctioneer and helped drive bids up to make this year’s live auction one of our most entertaining and successful ever!

Fun with Jack Amlin during our live auction!

We also hosted an Ambassador Family who came in and told their story of how the fund saved them from losing their house during a difficult pregnancy which put the mother on bed rest and unable to work for over 6 months.

The Danberry Treasure Chest is an emergency assistance fund set up at The Toledo Children’s Hospital benefitting families struggling with finances while their child struggles with a serious illness. Funds are administered through The Toledo Community Foundation and used for things such as back utilities, house payments, car repairs, etc. so parents can spend time with their seriously ill children in the hospital.

On Thursday, September 23 the Danberry Briarfield office hosted a miniature golf outing at the Maumee Sports Mall to raise funds for The Danberry Treasure Chest. The teams were treated to dinner and drinks as they putted their way through the 18 hole course. Prizes were awarded to the winning foursome, the last place foursome and the player with the most hole-in-one shots. The organizers were also kind enough to provide prizes for all the kids that played!

70 agents, managers and guests enjoyed a 3-day, 2-night getaway to the Windy City last week and had a ball! HMS Warranty hosted a welcome reception at Dick’s Last Resort along the Chicago River, which was followed for many by a Cubs game. The majority of the group enjoyed a downtown Architectural Cruise that was truly interesting and informative, blessed with blue skies and 70 degrees. On Wednesday evening Integrity Title and First Mortgage Consultants were our hosts for cocktails and a terrific meal at the LUX Bar.
